Caribbean Wedding: The Exotic is a Step Away

When you have a destination wedding in the Caribbean, you get all the luxuries and beauty that you would come to expect from a five star resort in America, but with a price that you can afford! Caribbean weddings with all inclusive resort packages give you a wedding that you’ve been dreaming of, even on a tight budget. The key to getting the best deal on a Caribbean wedding is to plan ahead, have good relationships with businesses and resorts, and to know how to get accommodations made right the first time. While you might think at first that a Caribbean wedding is expensive, you would be wrong! A wedding in the Caribbean will cost you less than half of what you would spend stateside for your ceremony, and that includes the price of your honeymoon to boot!

Why You Should Choose a Caribbean Wedding

Besides being a more affordable option for newlyweds, there are many other good reasons to choose a destination wedding in the Caribbean. First, you need to know that you’re picking somewhere that you’ve always wanted to go; the soft pink sandy beaches of Jamaica are ideal for beach weddings, and there’s always the hyper-reflective white sandy beaches too! In the Caribbean, you won’t find too many boring paper bag brown beaches, so no matter which island you choose for your wedding, you won’t be stuck with something boring. Make memories that last for a lifetime when you get married in paradise!

Stop Planning, Start Doing

All brides have planned their wedding from when they were small; what the dresses will look like, the perfect setting, the perfect man. Trying to make your dreams into a reality can be tough, but we can help! The first thing you need to do is to pick a location for your wedding; where is the best place for your party? Do you have a lot of people in your wedding party, or is it going to be a low key affair? Do you want to hold it outside on a soft beach, or in a seaside chapel with live entertainment? Edible flower arrangements, or traditional tropical flowers? Getting these details together helps you visualize the right kind of wedding that you want, and why do you deserve anything less than absolute luxury with a beautiful wedding in paradise?

Activities in the Caribbean

The Caribbean is a vast chain of islands, each with its own secrets to unfold and unique activities to do! Here you can swim with the dolphins right out in the open sea, walk the ocean floor and swim among the beautiful colorful choral reefs. Take African style safaris right next door, and go shark fishing in an aluminum boat with friendly guides who know all the best places to go. Visit factories with some of the finest rums in the world, and get them for a steal so you have a real souvenir to bring home, or maybe something strong to enjoy at the end of your beach wedding. When you choose the Caribbean for your destination wedding, you get a beautiful wedding and so much to do you’ll want to rush back in a year to do it all over again for your anniversary!

Island Hopping

Island hopping is a must when you’re in the Caribbean, and you can do this either by taking cruises or by taking a small plane between the islands. Many newlyweds spend a day on a different island, and seeing it all from above is one of the most romantic things you can do. From the Bahamas, to Bermuda and the Caymans and all the little Antilles in between, you’ll find so many different islands to explore! With its temperate weather all year long, you’ll be sure to find calm seas and air to travel in all year round.

Gambling and Shopping

Most Caribbean nations, predominately Jamaica and the Bahamas, have fantastic European style gambling along with more Vegas style fare. If you’re not much for rolling the dice and seeing how Lady Luck treats you, you can also take in dinner and a show at the casinos just like you would in Vegas. Beyond the brightly lit casinos, there’s a whole world of luxury shopping out there to explore, including cigars, liquor and fine spirits, linens and furnishings.

Enjoy the Sun

There is much more to the Caribbean besides its beautiful beaches; here you can rent a yacht and go from island to island, swim in shallow warm seas and dig your toes in the sand, and of course snorkeling and diving. It will pay to hire a local guide to help you find all the good local spots so you can swim and play along the coral reefs without having to deal with too much foot traffic. Safari trips are also important to try, since you can get a guide to drive you around in a jeep in one of the Caribbean’s many nature parks (like national parks, but privately maintained) and see all the interesting flora and fauna that only exist in the Caribbean. It has to be said, the Caribbean’s beaches are beautiful and beyond comparison. With soft brown, powdery white and salmon pink beaches, you’ll be amazed how many different colors can coexist next to the calm azure waters of the Caribbean.

You’ll never go without something to do while you’re in the Caribbean; if you’re bored with one island, move on to the next! The key to a great Caribbean destination wedding is to enjoy yourself, so don’t be afraid to try new things!

Dining in the Caribbean

Dining in the Caribbean is as vast and varied as the islands that inhabit the region. When you’re looking for the perfect location for your destination wedding, you’ll find that the Caribbean has the most to offer you for when you’re trying to cater your beach wedding or just trying to find something delicious for your honeymoon in both value and diversity. From traditional Spanish dishes with an island twist, the spicy yet sweet Jamaican Jerk, and the freshly grilled lobster tails of the Caribbean, you’ll find a truly delicious way to indulge yourself without breaking the bank with every meal. Since every island has a secret meal of its own to enjoy, you’ll definitely want to check out different islands to get a bigger picture of what it has in store.

Seafood with a Twist

If you’ve ever had Caribbean style food from an American seafood chain, you might think you know what’s in store for you when you visit the Caribbean. First, there is butter drenched indulgences with Chilean sea bass and fat lobster tails cooked on grills right before your eyes (after you pluck the one you want from the tank of course!); you can lounge for hours, friendly faces never rushing you out the door to serve the next customer.

Enjoy the Other White Meat

Another Caribbean delicacy you should try during your destination wedding is “jerked” chicken and pork. Beef is a rarity on the islands, but with jerk spices you’ll rediscover these and won’t believe it’s the same stuff you’ve been eating back home! Something magical happens in the islands, and the food has a lot of love in it. When you’re planning your catering for your beach wedding, you might be tempted to go with the pricey Argentinian steak options that the resorts off; one word of advice, don’t! Try out the local foods before you pick who will be catering your wedding, so you know what you want to serve.

Desserts are Delicious

Desserts in the Caribbean you’ll find are sweet and rich, just like the beaches that surround the island. Caribbeaners are more apt to use what’s on hand, like fresh star fruits and uglifruits (bad name, but delicious!) that give a sweet taste to light as well as more rich desserts. Milk and fresh creams are a rarity, but you’ll find they have other ways to bring out the flavors without going too overboard.

Try the Resort Restaurants

When looking at dining options in the Caribbean for your destination wedding, don’t forget to try out the all inclusive resort restaurants that are included in your package! These will range from American food, to delicious buffets and even fine dining restaurants that give you the five star treatment you crave on your destination wedding vacation! The Caribbean gives you a great opportunity to taste all of the cultures around the world that have touched it, and the resort hotel restaurants are a great place to start out your culinary adventure!

Caribbean Nightlife

Caribbean nightlife offers something for everyone, and will ensure that you have a fantastic time during your destination wedding. When you choose an all inclusive resort package, you’ll find that many resorts offer nightlife options ranging from swim up water bars and pool parties that go all night long; bumping discothèques with backlit dance floors and vibrant colorful casinos where you can take your chances at slots or cards. More romantic nightlife options can include intimate dinners on private beaches, to wine and tequila tasting too! When choosing the Caribbean for your free beach wedding (you can get one when you buy a honeymoon package) you aren’t blocked into a resort desert where you have to shop, eat, and play within the walls of the property; here you can explore the islands, the people, and most of all the vibrant nightlife that is the lifeblood of any good Caribbean honeymoon!

Clubs and Bars

Barbados has some of the best Reggae clubs in the Caribbean, along with its run and reggae cruises that let you roam the seas around the island in style. The Dominican Republic has fantastic club scenes in Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata, and you can’t miss the reggae and soca clubs of Jamaica. Puerto Rico has many merengue bars and salsa that can’t be missed, and St Maarten has more upscale bars and clubs that you would find in New York or Los Angeles. St Thomas has many clubs and bars that dot the beachfront, but is lower key in comparison to many of the other islands.

Gambling

Gambling is a mainstay in the Caribbean. From the shiny glittering casinos of Aruba, to the cabaret packed shows in Curacao’s “little Vegas”. Puerto Rico has most of its casinos in the major resort areas, but you can find a few independent ones scattered throughout the island. St Maarten’s casinos are not as high intensity as the ones you might find in Jamaica or Puerto Rico, but can be a little more relaxed and are great for first time gambles.

Live Entertainment

You’ll find Cabaret and Can-Can shows in Puerto Rico, and live Jazz in Curacao. In Aruba, there are magic and comedy shows that will both amaze and amuse. It’s a good getaway from the high intensity of the casinos, but you can always take in dinner and a show at any all inclusive resort. Puerto Rico has many piano bars and live music acts to enjoy, along with unique blends of art installations and music that you can’t miss! When you’re planning your destination wedding, you have to make sure that you pick a place that gives you both variety as well as value, and the Caribbean beats many other locations hands down. From glitzy nights of glamour in casinos to lounging in a canopy bed along the beach, the nightlife in the Caribbean is what you make of it. All inclusive Caribbean destination weddings give you access to the best nightclubs just footsteps away from your room, and one of the most beautiful places on earth to celebrate your wedding!

We were referred by another bride on an internet destination wedding board who just raved about them. I filled out their form then called and asked hundred of questions. They were wonderful! Really knew their stuff on travel and weddings.
